The FANUC M-410 is FANUC's dedicated palletizing robot. The M-410iB arms we stock carry from 160 kg up to 700 kg with more than 3,100 mm of reach, which covers most end of line stacking jobs. We also carry the M-420iA, a smaller FANUC arm used in packaging. All of them are on our floor in Imlay City, Michigan.
What a Palletizing Robot Does Differently
A six axis arm can stack a pallet, but a palletizing job does not need all six axes. The tool points straight down, picks a case, bag or layer, and sets it on the stack. The M-410iB/160, /450 and /700 are four axis arms built around that motion. Fewer axes means a simpler arm for one repeated job: pick, swing, place.
That is why you see them at the end of so many lines. If you are planning a cell, our post on industrial palletizing robots covers the job itself, and our post on material handling robots covers the wider family. Food and beverage plants should also read about food grade robots before choosing an arm. All of our FANUC stock is on the used FANUC robots page.
The M-410iB Models
M-410iB/160. The M-410iB/160 carries 160 kg with 3,140 mm of reach. It is the size for case and bag palletizing where one pick is a single product or a few cases. Ours are 2009 robots on the R-30iA controller.
M-410iB/450. The M-410iB/450 carries 450 kg with 3,130 mm of reach. That is room for heavier tooling and multi case picks. Ours is a 2013 robot on the R-30iB controller.
M-410iB/700. The top of the iB line. The M-410iB/700 carries 700 kg with 3,143 mm of reach, enough for full layer picks with a heavy layer tool. Ours are 2015 and 2016 robots on the R-30iB.
FANUC built other sizes too. The M-410iB/300 data sheet shows 300 kg at 3,140 mm, and the newer M-410iC line has its own data sheets, such as the M-410iC/185 at 185 kg and 3,143 mm.
The M-420iA
The M-420iA is a smaller arm than the M-410iB, and our listings tie it to packaging work. Ours are 2007 robots on the R-30iA. For payload and reach, check the listing and the FANUC M-420iA post on our blog.
Sizing a Used Palletizer
- Payload is the tool plus the pick. Palletizing tools are heavy. Clamp, fork and vacuum layer tools can weigh more than the product. Add the tool to your heaviest pick, then pick the arm. Our post on end of arm tooling covers the options, and robotic quick change tooling helps if one robot runs more than one product.
- Reach is the pallet plus the stack. Measure from where the robot will sit to the far corner of each pallet, and to the top of your tallest stack. Our FANUC payload and reach chart helps you compare.
- More pallet positions. A FANUC robot transfer unit lets one robot travel down a row of pallets. Our post on seventh axis tracks explains how they work.
- Controller and software. Ask which software options are loaded on the controller, and confirm the palletizing options you need are there. Our FANUC robot controllers guide covers the R-30iA and R-30iB.
- Freight. These are big arms. Sale terms are FOB Imlay City, Michigan, so the freight carrier is yours to pick.
Palletizing Robots We Carry
- FANUC M-410iB/160: 160 kg payload, 3,140 mm reach, four axis
- FANUC M-410iB/450: 450 kg payload, 3,130 mm reach, four axis
- FANUC M-410iB/700 palletizing robots: 700 kg payload, 3,143 mm reach, four axis
- FANUC M-420iA: R-30iA, see listing for specs
- FANUC R-2000iB/210F: 210 kg payload, 2,655 mm reach, six axis
- FANUC M-710iC/70: 70 kg payload, 2,050 mm reach, six axis
- FANUC M-900iA/350: 350 kg payload, 2,650 mm reach, six axis
Six axis arms make sense when the same robot has to do more than stack, and the data sheets are on our blog for the R-2000iB/210F, the M-710iC/70 and the M-900iA/350. We also carry never used Kawasaki CP palletizing robots and Motoman MPL160II palletizers on our used Yaskawa Motoman robots page.
